Act 29: He’s an OG Citra Hops Head
You might know him as a brewer who loves his Citra hops. You may know him as the Wu Tang Clan’s biggest fan boy. Or you may know him as the Culinary Gangsta — that guy with 3 smokers in his back yard. Whether you know him or not, our guest for Act 29, Taylor Jones, has a big time love of beer and food. We talk his brewing chops and how much Citra he once put in a five gallon batch of beer. We also talk about his newest venture, Burn Theory Fire Kitchen, located at Diametric Brewing, and the origin of the soon-to-be world famous Taylor Tots.
Act 28: Picture this!
What beer do you pair with Lobster? How about an IPA? Advanced Cicerone and creator of the beer education cartoon Pints & Panels, Em Sauter, joins Nick & Nigel for Act 28. She gives us great ideas for beer/food parings, hips us to the New England beer scene and talks about her love for everything craft beer. We also learn the Pints & Panels origin story.
Act 27: Beer smarter; not harder
Nick and Nigel definitely got smarter — well, one of them did — during Act 27 of Beers with Nigel. Neil With, a beer industry vet, Master Cicerone and one of the foremost authorities on draft beer joins the show. We talk about beer (duh!), his draft system business and we ate if your beer has “ator” at the end of its name, it means something! The gang had beers from Civil Life, KC Bier & Epic Brewing. Act 26: Beer + bourbon… what could go wrong?
A cuvee of beer and bourbon! Guess how that went? This episode isn't for the faint hearted — And we're talking about the drinking and the conversation, folks. In this episode, everything was on the table as we talk beer, bourbon, race and just about everything in between. Power couple Chalonda White, aka Afro Beer Chick, and Nik White, creator Chicago Beer Pass join Beers with Nigel representing the pod they do together, The Neat Pour — which as you might imagine focuses on bourbon, so you know Nick Parker was excited.
Act 25: It ain’t hot if it ain’t sizzlin’
Their name says it all. They want to craft the culture. Crafted Culture Brewing founder Anthony “Sizzle” Perry joins Nick & Nigel for Act 25. Opening Monday, Feb. 1, Crafted Culture Brewing is set to become the first black owned brewery in Central Ohio. We talk about his struggles opening a brewery and his goal of reaching neglected craft beer consumers. There’s also lots of funny moments in this episode.
Act 24: Holy craft beer, Batman! Look what happened in 2020
2020 was quite the year. Never mind that pandemic thing — it's the year we started the BeersWithNigel podcast! In Act 24 we take a look back at some of our favorite guests, topics and beers. Nigel shares his Untappd Year in Beer results. He might have had a few last year. The man who’s always mentioned but never seen; Junior! Finally reveals himself on the pod. Nick thought was a good idea to start the show with the 12% Bourbon Barrel Quad from Boulevard Brewing. Transparent Brewing gifted us a crowler of their lovely Hidden Monster Scottish Export. Act 23: He rocks, he rolls, he ships us some bitchin’ brew
It’s Act 23 of #BeersWithNigel and we've gone international again! Joining us from the UK is Stacey Ayeh, of Rock Leopard Brewing Co. in London, England. Stacey is a veteran in the alcohol biz and started Rock Leopard to give his interpretation of the beers he loves. We talk about the obstacles he faced getting into the beer business and the London beer scene. Stacey was prepared for the pod, shipping two of his beers across the pond for Nigel and Nick to sip on during the show. We had Rock Leopard’s Paper, Scissors NEIPA and Are We Human Or Are We Chancer?, a session NEIPA.

The Kansas City area brewery scene is growing! Especially on the east side of the city. This episode features two breweries opening in the early part of 2021. Nigel and Nick talk to Brad Steele, who’s opening Broken Hatchet Brewing, and Jeremy Kneeland, Jeff Gray, and Dave Querner, the guys behind the The Goat Brewing Company. We talk about opening a brewery during a pandemic and how they all got started. We drink beers from both breweries plus beer from Saugatuck Brewing and Sun King Brewing.
Act 21: Don’t count out the Okies, the brew scene’s getting Lively
Pat Lively, of Lively Brewing, joins the show. Pat is veteran brewer who started his career at COOP Brewing. Pat talks about running his own brewery, the Oklahoma craft beer scene and his role as president of the Craft Brewers Association of Oklahoma.
Act 20: So, a meteorologist walks into a bar…
Meteorologists like beer, too. In fact, this week's guest brewed a beer at Wind Shift Brewing in Blue Springs, MO. Joining us this episode is KMBC weather chief Bryan Busby. We talk about his recent adventure in brewing and learn he’s great at character voices and just a generally funny dude.
Act 19: The one where they cross the pond
Joining the BeersWithNigel pod is Award-winning writer, Melissa Cole. She’s one of the UK's leading beer and food experts. Melissa is an international beer judge and has brewed with some of the world's most respected breweries. I like to call her a force of nature. And she’s super funny too! We talk about how we met in London, what “hoppy’ means and other stuff!
Act 18: This guy must be a Boy Scout because dude came prepared
Alright, alright, alright... Act 18 brings president of Kansas City area home brew club ZZ Hops to the show. Brett Wooderson is an award winning home brewer, known for making some pretty crazy but balanced home-brews. Nick & I have dubbed him the most prepared guest as he had cooler of beer ready for the show; including Fairy Nectar from Cross Strain, Brownie Points from Maplewood and Ella on Holiday from Pathlight. Nick’s mystery beers: Yeah Buoy from Logboat, Firework Fight from Vanessa House and Strat Fjords from Strange Days Brewing.
Act 17: If you brew it, they will come
Episode 17 of Beers with Nigel features self proclaimed Beer Chef Rodney Beagle, brewer at 3 Halves brewing in Liberty, MO. We find out how he got into beer, his days as a gypsy brewer, what inspires his "mad scientist" beer recipes and what 3 Halves represents. We also had first car accident on the podcast. Rodney sipped on 3 Halves QBC Wheat, while Nick & I drank Boulevard's Jam Band.. Mystery beers were Absence of Light from 4 Hands, French Toast Restless Soul from Servaes and a NEIPA from Finkel & Garf.
Act 16: The real story of Tank 7… and other stuff
#BeersWithNigel Act 16 features Jeremy Danner of 4 Hands Brewing. The conversation runs the gamut as we talk beer (of course), how he got into beer. We find out he had a hand in the creation of Boulevard's Tank 7. We also get his take on diversity in the beer scene.
Act 15: Something to write about
Act 15 of #BeersWithNigel features Writer, Chef, Beer & Wine enthusiast Pete Dulin. We talk beer, food and about the 3 books Pete has authored. We also talk about the Kansas City beer scene among other stuff. Nick's mystery beers include Windshift's Tiramisu Stout, Grains & Taps Octoberfest and a stout from home brewer Travis Bacon.
Act 14: We went live and Nigel was hot!
Ok, yes it was definitely hot outside while we recorded this episode during the grand opening of Transparent Brewing. But Nigel was attacking the mic like it was a kid peeing on his lawn. What were the guys drinking? Kickstand Kolsch, Tippin' Stout, Oui Bit Fancy French Saison.

Homebrewer, beer lover, and new assistant brewer at Torn Label Brewing, Dez Jones joins the show. We talk beer, how she got interested and how she landed her new gig (Which is a HUGE deal). We also had a great conversation on diversity.
Act 12: Meeting role models, affecting change & don’t forget the beer
The Drinking Partners & creators of Fresh Fest Beer Fest, Day Bracey & Ed Bailey join the show from Pittsburgh, PA. We talk about Fresh Fest being a digi-fest this year, their long running podcast & diversity in craft beer. Nick's mystery beer was a unmarked can from City Barrel and the Black is Beautiful from Crane Brewing. I sipped on beer from Side Project & Servaes Brewing. Day had the Black is Beautiful from Hitchhiker Brewing and Ed imbibed on beer from 11th Hour Brewing. Enjoy the episode!

Act 10: The Black is Beautiful beer project
First, let's get one thing out of the way. Nick loves Courtney Servaes and her unending line of tasty brews. OK, now that we have that out of the way, Courtney, Bri Burrows of Big Rip Brewing and Chris Meyers of Crane Brewing join Nigel and Nick to talk about the Black is Beautiful beer project led by last week's guest, Marcus Baskerville from Weathered Souls Brewing. Proceeds of the beer will go to supporting social justice causes.
